How do Heat Pumps Work?
Heat pumps work by extracting heat from different sources and redirecting it
An excellent example of this exchange of heat is your typical air-air heat pump, which, during cooler months, a heat pump pulls from the heat in the outside air and pumps it directly into your home.
While vice versa, during warmer months, it can remove heat from your home and push it out, effectively cooling it. Yet, it is electrically powered, similar to an air conditioning system. It requires a refrigerant to keep your home cooled all year round.
Geothermal heat pumps work similarly except for pulling and pushing heat into the ground.
